Bank Holiday Dating 🥰

Are you lucky enough to have a first date on this beautiful Bank Holiday Weekend?

At Select Connections, we aim to provide all our clients and members with as much advice & guidance as we possibly can to help them improve their chances of getting to a second or third date.

Sometimes it's just that one little change that can make all the difference 😊

See a brief outline of my top tips for successful dating mid-life & later-in-life below:

Keep your first dates casual and low-key.

To help you with this, we've come up with a list of things not to do on your first date:

Don't try to be adventurous or creative on your first date - we like to suggest a walk and then a cuppa or a glass of wine, or if the weather is not permitting on the day or evening, then a nice cosy cafe or wine bar.

  • Don't dismiss your date because they're not your type.

  • Don't put too much pressure on yourself - be yourself and enjoy meeting someone new.

  • Don't talk about yourself endlessly.

  • Don't quiz your date, but being interested in them on a lighter note is good.

  • Don't talk about your ex or ex's.

  • Don't talk about politics or religion - we know that dating mid-life & later-in-life means that we have strong opinions, but these do not need to be aired on a first date!

  • Don't have your phone on the table - we suggest you put it on silent before the date and remain from checking until after the date.

  • If you have children, don't talk about them endlessly - but don't forget to mention them.

  • Don't avoid eye contact - if continual eye contact makes you uncomfortable on a first date, then we suggest going for a walk (above) or sitting at a right angle to each other - this will make you both feel more relaxed, and the date will feel less intense.

  • Keep it light

The Do's are short and simple - relax, enjoy, and be yourself. What will be, will be, and with this approach, you will remove the pressure, giving yourself more chance of getting to the second date, and then ....
